March 26 begins the (almost) monthly preparedness workshop schedule for 2026 (through October). These are open to the public. Bring your family and friends who are interested in preparedness, or want to be!

Emergency Communications Simulation - March 28, 2026, 8 -11 am
Emergency Communications Simulation for a mock-incident will be held on Saturday March 28th, 2026, from 8 - 11 AM, for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints within the West Richland Stake. GMRS radios will be used for all communications. Church members will be contacted in person with a welfare and security check. Results of the exercise will be relayed to Stake Leaders and then to Area Leaders within this three-hour time window. May 2026 - Herb Foraging Fieldtrip
Harris Park, Milton Freewater - Saturday May 9th, 2026, 9 am - 1:00+pm
Join with other herbal enthusiasts for a 'herb wildcrafting' experience in the canyon above Milton Freewater, Oregon. Practice plant identification, gather herbs for personal use, and learn how to prepare herbal medicines.
- Start time at the park: 9am. Meet at parking lot.
- Wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes
- Bring paper bags, gloves, hand pruning clippers, black ink marker
- Bring sack lunch and water bottle
- Bring a field guidebook for plant ID, if you have one (note: there is no cell service at the park. Plant ID phone apps will not work.)
- 12:30 optional workshop - making herbal medicine. Bring $5 cash to cover costs of tincture, and a sanitized pint-sized mason jar with lid & ring - if you want to make your own
